Art is a terrain of impact and movement
The territory of art can begin to shift realities and mentalities, challenge stereotypes and generate knowledge and expansion.

Art Territories is the ground we chose to create in order to move and make ourselves present —a living space where social, political, personal and poetic concerns intersect. What matters to us is raising questions, creating reflection and knowledge rather than giving answers. It is in this intersection that we —three Latin American artists working in theatre, dance, performance and visual art— decided to found this collective in Stuttgart as a place of action and resonance.

Our collective was born from the desire to work together in processes and artistic pieces that interrogate the social fabric through artistic practice. We bring reflections on our bodies, our identities, and on concepts such as memory, archives, integration and displaced narratives. We work through collaboration, connecting our practices with cultural spaces, artists, experts and communities within and beyond Germany: to amplify voices, build alliances and strengthen the presence of our art in the city.

We want to provoke encounters. And for what we do to echo, for something to shift, for something to begin.
For a territory of action to be identified.
About us
Karina Pino Gallardo
theatre maker and playwriter
Founder of Art Territories Collective
Cuba (1985)
My practice draws from my interest in social issues and my work with diverse groups of people and communities. Taking a transdisciplinary approach, I explore the intersections of the power of the memory, the document, the archive, the different ideas of “representation”.

I hold Master's degrees in Performative Arts and Community Spaces (2021) and Environmental Humanities (2022) (both in Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Italy). I also completed a Bachelor's in Theater Criticism and Research (University of Arts, Havana, 2010) and graduated in Acting (National School of Theatre, Havana, 2003).
I worked as editor and writer in Tablas-Alarcos Publishing House (Havana), and was invited as specialist and collaborative curator to several events and theater festivals (University of Miami 2015, FIBA- Argentina 2017, ENARTES Mexico City 2017, Santiago a Mil- Santiago OFF 2018, Salmon Barcelona and Grec Festival 2018, Impulse Mülheim an der Ruhr 2018, Naves-Matadero Madrid International Meeting for Programmers 2018).

My artistic research focuses on how we 'relate' to our surroundings, with the aim of inhabiting otherness and creating shared experiences with my audience. My projects have been presented at various festivals, including JETZT! Festival KulturRegion Stuttgart and the CURRENT FESTIVAL. My piece "Ways to dig up the mountain" was nominated for the Best Theatre and Spoken Word Award at the STOFF Festival in 2024.
I have been beneficiary of the Project Funding by the Kulturamt der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart in the years 2024 and 2025 for the pieces "Ephemeral Sharings" and "Hands Up", co-directed with my colleague Tyler Cunningham.

Between 2013 and 2023 I was part of numerous artist residencies: Movimiento Sur Chile 2016, Linha de Fuga Portugal 2017, International Forum Theatertreffen Berlin 2018, Fleetstreet Theatre Hamburg 2021, Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart 2022-2023.

My recent pieces, performances and collaborative-interdisciplinary projects are being developed in Stuttgart with the support of several platforms and institutions. Among these pieces are: "Common Cities" (Festival "JETZT!" Kultur Region Stuttgart, 2024) and "Letters to the future, emotional geographies of a city", granted by the Culture Office of the City of Stuttgart in the program "Art in Public Spaces" 2024-2025.

As well as working on my own projects, I am an experienced performer who have collaborated with various artists and companies, such as in "Ohne Titel" by Tino Sehgal, "The Positive Reinforcement Campaign" by composer Jessie Marino, and "Die Kinderbibliothek" by the performance duo Herbordt/Mohren, among others.
