going where I feel like the wild duck
The odd days
The starting point for this biodrama or "document of a specific reality" is The Wild Duck, by Henrik Ibsen.
The disturbing death of Eduviges, the teenager who decides to commit suicide when the principle of the Vital Lie ceases to exist for her.
Based on this fictional reference, four young people from Havana are interviewed, write texts, and complete the investigation in search of signs of literal, social or affective suicide. In the end, there are many ways of being a suicide nowadays.
Four young non-actors and a photographer agree to participate in a process of reconstruction of their personal lives, where suicide has been factual in some cases, and in others it has only existed as a latent, utopian idea, as the only emerging plan of escape.
In all cases, the process leads the young people to try to identify their most immediate psychological enemy, deriving the investigation towards richer and more polemic areas.
Through the heterogeneous psychologies of these young people, the theatrical investigation focuses on three fundamental aspects: what to do when the family or those around you fail?, when God or whatever exists fails?, when politics and an entire system fail?
